"November and December. And January. Perhaps even part of February. It all starts with a ladder, a few hooks and a stringing of lights. These four months illuminate some of the most magical days of the year. As a kid, I loved visiting different neighborhoods with my family to see the plethora of home & yard light displays. Neighbors trying to one-up the house to the left and right. Across the street. Down the block. These real life displays were the closest thing to living in a fantasy world without powering on a video game system. After all, it’s hard to beat the in-person experience of feeling crisp winter air freezing your nostrils and white fluffy flakes melting on your face.
It’s maybe a little ironic then that I’d choose to illustrate a 3D winter wonderland, realized in the virtual realm… but, it’s the closest I could come to bringing back that magic and awe I experienced as a kid. And with a smile on my face.
We all have to grow up at some point, but you don’t ever have to grow out of imagining beauty or dreaming big."
